Hemp products for animals
We’ve all heard about the therapeutic use of hemp products and await the legal use of cannabidiol (CBD) oil in humans.
In the meantime, there are hemp products that can provide health benefits for your pets and assist with healing. The vet community is divided due to the lack of clinical trials, but most vets encourage pet owners to try hemp oil. Working on the theory that if it provides relief for the animal, it is a good thing. Hemp products are legal for use on animals in Australia but not for use on humans. Much information is anecdotal but as Triple Js Dr. Karl says..it is only data if you keep notes.
Pet Hemp Seed Oil is packed with omegas 3, 6 and 9. The oil can help ease aching joints, skin and coat irritations, teeth, nails, and mood, including anxiety. Add a drop or two to your dog or cat’s food.
Hemp Shack pure Hemp Seed Oil is 100% pure hemp oil and is THC free, making it safe to use without the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC.)
Both CBD and THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A slight difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing effects on your body.
The interaction affects the release of neurotransmitters in the brain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals responsible for relaying messages between cells and have roles in pain, immune function, stress, and sleep, to name a few.
Despite their similar chemical structures, CBD and THC don’t have the same psychoactive effects. CBD is psychoactive, just not in the same manner as THC. It doesn’t produce the high associated with THC. CBD is shown to help with anxiety, depression, and seizures.
Hemp seed oil can be used by spraying directly into your pets food, onto the skin and coat or massaged into the skin and coat. Use no more than 5 sprays per day. Always consult your pets veterinarian for diagnosis and further information about treatment, and your own health care provider if you have any questions or concerns.
If you are considering using Hemp products for your pets, we strongly advise discussing with your vet. Then if you decide it has merit, we will happily help you.
